BaCCE Analysis Technology
BaCCE
(Background Active Content Categorization Engine])
With the ongoing explosion of the internet due to social networks, ecommerce, IM, P2P, gaming, streaming, deceptive and malicious websites, malware, etc. a comprehensive URL filtering and security solution is required. A database alone, no matter how large, cant keep up with the growth and changes. BaCCE is an integral part of the inCompass solution.

NetSTARs iCCE [Instant Content Categorization Engine] focuses on categorizing content in real-time. Competitive solutions claim to offer real-time analysis, but because of the latency that they introduce, they must run the process in the background, long after the user has made the URL request. In addition, most of these competitive solutions are only able to use dynamic filtering on a few categories.
Whereas iCCE is designed not to introduce latency to the user experience while dynamically categorizing unknown URLs, here are times when a more comprehensive analysis is required. Such an analysis can and is expected to introduce latency due to the intensity of the analysis. BaCCE provides this more sophisticated and complete analysis of web content, in the background so as not to introduce user latency, to ensure accuracy and complete analysis of the web content.
BaCCE analysis is performed anonymously and securely in NetSTARs global data-centers. Combined with algorithms that rank the importance of categorizing an unknown URL or website, BaCCE utilizes over 250 separate and distinct analytical processes to correctly identify the content based on context, presentation, use relationships, page layout, and many other factors within seconds and accurately assign the content to one of the 90+ inCompass® categories. After successfully categorizing the web content, utilizing the same algorithms than rank the importance and frequency that the URL is being requested, the results are added to NetSTAR Categorization Database and security categories, and made available automatically during the next update of the Categorization Database all automated by inCompass technology.
